Choosing the right gas fire for your home

Use the following tables to help choose the Jetmaster gas fire that is right for you. Some questions might ask…

  • Is your chimney flue Class 1 or Class 2?
  • If you want an inset firebox…
Do you want convector efficiency (Gas Convector) or not (Jetbox)?
  • If you want a gas grate only…
Do you have a square opening (Gas Conversion) or a chair brick (Radiant)?

Legacy

Read the following tables to identify your Jetmaster gas fire. Unfortunately, identifying units by serial numbers is unavailable. We often look underneath the coals to find out what engine we are dealing with, so we can prescribe spares (see "Engines & production years"). Our fires have been marketed with different names over the years, you can look up these names as well as their editions they came in (see "Naming conventions").

Engines & production years

Engine Years Spares available CE marking Identifying factors
MK6 1998–Current Most§ The front set of coals are a pre-formed set, not loose.
MK4 1995–2012 Most Under the coals is vermiculite — a dusty, granular material.
MK2/3 1990–1995 Some Under the coals is a ceramic blanket. This was originally white, like cotton wool but will have blackened with use.
MK1 1986–1993 Few Under the coals is a granular material, like road chippings. This is a volcanic rock called LECA. This unit is lit by match.
